Hydrogen in San Diego

San Diego has one open public hydrogen station, True Zero's site in Mission Valley. That makes ownership here a single point of failure: when that station is offline, the next nearest fuel is San Juan Capistrano in Orange County, roughly 60 miles north.

Two more True Zero stations are planned, on Washington Street and in Rancho Carmel. The Washington Street site's expected date has already passed. The DOE record for the open station was also last confirmed in mid-2024, which is older than most California records, so the live status page is especially worth checking here.

Practical notes

  • If you are considering a used fuel-cell car in San Diego, check this station's recent uptime first. One station is not a network.
