Hydrogen in Orange County

Orange County has the densest working coverage in Southern California and the best ratio of open to unavailable stations. Costa Mesa has two stations, and Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, Placentia, Orange, Seal Beach, Lake Forest, Aliso Viejo and San Juan Capistrano cover most of the county from the 91 down to the San Diego County line.

It also has the best mix of operators: True Zero and Iwatani both run several stations here, so an outage at one supplier is less likely to take out every option near you. The exception is Anaheim, where both stations are currently listed as unavailable, including an Iwatani site that opened in late 2025.

Practical notes

  • San Juan Capistrano is the last station before San Diego, about 60 miles north of the one station there.
  • A planned True Zero station in Buena Park would help north county if it opens.
