Hydrogen in the Inland Empire

The Inland Empire has two open stations for cars, in Ontario and Corona, both on the western edge of the region. There is nothing open east of Interstate 15: Riverside and San Bernardino each have a planned station, and the San Bernardino site's expected opening date has already passed without opening.

Ontario is better known for trucks. Petro Ontario is a public heavy-duty hydrogen site serving freight on the I-10 corridor, reflecting where new investment is going. The region was also at the center of the February 2026 supply shock: the delivery-trailer explosion that disrupted fuel supply statewide happened in Colton.

Practical notes

  • During the 2026 shortage, Iwatani's Corona station was among those limited to partial fills. Check live status before relying on it.
  • For Palm Springs or the high desert there is no hydrogen at all. Fill in Ontario and plan a round trip within range.
